Emmaus Monthly Devotionals
Emmaus members are planning, supporting, speaking at, and participating in the 2023 Gather Conference held at the Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo Utah, from September 15 and 16, 2023. Gather is the largest-ever Christ-centered Conference of LGBTQ+ Latter-day Saints and their friends, relatives, and leaders. The message of Gather is love, support, acceptance, positivity, and hope. It is faith-affirming, respecting that everyone is on their own faith journey, and identity-affirming, recognizing that each person is a child of God with a unique personality and identity.
Emmaus members gathered in Heber, Utah from September 23 to 25, 2022, for the Emmaus Retreat on LGBTQ ministering. Speakers included Bree Larsen, Carson Perez, Tekulvē Jackson-Vann, Liv Haynes, Tim Chavez, Aubrey Chavez, Mike Wood, Ann Law, Carson Perez, Erika Munson, Sytske Woodhouse, John Gustav-Wrathall, Diane Roldán, Valerie Nicole Green, and many other Emmaus members who shared insights and testimonies.
In 2021, Emmaus's leadership team met in California to plan goals for Emmaus, share testimonies, and identify areas of ministering needs for LGBTQ+ Latter-day Saint members and those who love them.
2020 Fall Meeting
In October 2020, the Emmaus Ministry general membership met virtually to launch the creation of local and regional Emmaus groups. These groups are led by LGBTQ members and allies who desire to provide ministry to LGBTQ persons in their local wards and stakes. Board Members Valerie Green, John Gustav-Wrathall, and Carson Perez shared their faith journeys as LGBTQ Latter-day Saints. Erika Munson and Diane Roldán shared how allies can assist in the work.
In 2020, we kicked off our virtual Pride celebration with San Francisco Pride, June 27 and 28. Due to shelter-in-place, we celebrated online, with our Brunch on Saturday 10-11 A.M., and Watch Party on Sunday 2-3 P.M. (Pacific DT). For the Watch Party, we hosted a live link from our Facebook group page to San Francisco's virtual pride parade. Registrants received an Angel Moroni Pride Pin!
